Abstract
This study aims to examine differences in levels of social concern between students who are active and inactive in student organizations, as well as to describe levels of social concern and conduct item analysis of the scale as a basis for counseling services. This study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design. The sample consisted of 110 students from the Guidance and Counseling Program at Sanata Dharma University from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a Likert-scale social concern measure that met validity criteria and had high reliability (α = 0.958). Data analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney U test because the data were not normally distributed.The results indicate that there is no significant difference in the level of social concern between students who are active in organizations and those who are not (p = 0.242). Descriptively, the majority of students in both groups fall into the high to very high categories. All scale items also fell into the high and very high categories, indicating that students’ levels of social concern were relatively uniform in the context of this study. Therefore, the implications of this study point toward efforts to maintain and strengthen the value of social concern through various learning activities and character development programs within the university environment.
