Mengatasi Perilaku Impulsive Buying pada Wanita Dewasa Awal: Peran Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract. The convenience of shopping through e-commerce has increased purchasing behavior, with online buyers in Indonesia growing by 30.5% in 2024. This ease of access encourages individuals to buy products excessively without planning, a condition referred to as Impulsive Buying, where purchases are made excessively without consideration or planning. Impulsive Buying may occur due to a lack of cognitive control. Therefore, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is predicted to reduce excessive buying behavior. MBCT combines cognitive therapy with meditation techniques and mindfulness development. This study aims to examine the effect of MBCT in reducing Impulsive Buying behavior. The research employed a quantitative quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. Data were collected using interviews and the Impulsive Buying Tendency Scale (IBT Scale) by Herabadi. The sample consisted of five early adult women who exhibited Impulsive Buying behavior, selected through purposive sampling. Based on the Wilcoxon statistical test, the results showed a significance value of 0.043 < 0.05, with a reduction of Impulsive Buying behavior by 38%, shifting from high Impulsive Buying to low Impulsive Buying. This indicates that MBCT is effective in reducing Impulsive Buying behavior. Therefore, MBCT can be considered as an alternative intervention for addressing Impulsive Buying problems.
