Pengalaman Diskriminasi Etnis dalam Kaitannya Terhadap Kecemasan Interaksi Sosial pada Individu Etnis Tionghoa

Abstract
This study aims to examine the positive relationship between experiences of ethnic discrimination and social interaction anxiety among individuals of Chinese-Indonesian descent. This research is a quantitative study using a convenience sampling technique. A total of 145 participants were women, and 58 participants were male (N = 203). Based on these totals, 165 of them are pursuing higher education. Participants were evaluated using the Experiences of Ethnic Discrimination Scale, an adapted version of the PEDQ-CV (α = 0.998) and Social Interaction Anxiety, an adapted version of the SIAS (α = 0.930). Correlation test analysis was conducted using the one-tailed Spearman’s Rho. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between experiences of ethnic discrimination and social interaction anxiety among individuals of Chinese-Indonesian descent (p = <.001; r=0.242). The researcher conducted several additional analyses to further enrich the findings of this study. Specifically, these analyses examined gender-based differences in experiences of ethnic discrimination and social interaction anxiety. Subsequent analyses examined differences in experiences of ethnic discrimination based on educational level.
