Publication Ethics

International Journal of Applied Sciences and Smart Technologies (IJASST) is a peer-reviewed journal. It is necessary to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer and the publisher. This statement is based on Practice Guidelines for publication as in Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE’s Best).

In addition, every full paper submitted to IJASST will be screened using Turnitin (an Internet-based plagiarism-prevention service) to detect the possibilities of plagiarism.

AUTHORS

Reporting Standard

Originality and plagiarism

The authors should confirm that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit or publish the same manuscript to more than one journal or primary publication.

Authorship of the Paper

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should in any event be prepared to keep such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Fundamental errors in published works

EDITORS

Fair Play

An editor assesses manuscripts based only on the originality and the quality of the paper and should not be affected by the religious, national, political or any other influences.

Confidentiality

The editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in editors' own research without the express written consent of the author.

PEER REVIEWERS

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editors and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to, or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. The reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting rationale arguments.

AI Usage and Authorship

Authors may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, or similar applications solely to improve language, grammar, or readability during manuscript preparation. The use of AI tools to generate ideas, data, analysis, or interpretations that contribute to the scientific content of the work is strictly prohibited. All authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript. The use of any AI tools must be transparently disclosed in the Acknowledgment section (e.g., “This manuscript benefited from the use of ChatGPT, an AI-based language tool, for language editing only.”). AI tools cannot be credited as authors, as authorship implies accountability that AI systems cannot assume. Any misuse of AI leading to plagiarism, factual inaccuracies, or ethical violations will be considered a breach of publication ethics and may result in rejection or retraction.
