Abstract

The issue of gender inequality still persists today, where women's roles are often seen as limited to the domestic sphere, such as taking care of the household, while work in the public sphere is more often considered the responsibility of men, resulting in a significant separation of roles. This article aims to explore the meaning of readiness in awaiting the arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven and to analyze the role of women in the parable of the ten wise and foolish virgins who welcomed the arrival of the bridegroom through a socio-narrative interpretation of Matthew 25:6-13 and its relevance to the present context. The socio-narrative research method views the text not merely as a mirror, meaning it is not limited to the message conveyed by the text's author but rather explores and uncovers various social, cultural, and religious dimensions that influence the lives of the people at that time, particularly the position of women, so that the theological messages found can be dialogued with the contemporary context.
