Publication Ethics
Suksma: Jurnal Psikologi Universitas Sanata Dharma ethics statements are based on Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal.
Suksma: Jurnal Psikologi Universitas Sanata Dharma is committed to upholding high ethical principles of publication, and against all forms of academic disintegration practices. It is therefore important to agree on the expected standards of ethical behavior for authors, editors, peer reviewers, and publishers.
Faculty of Psychology, Sanata Dharma University as a publisher takes the duties of all stages of publishing seriously and is aware of ethical responsibilities and other responsibilities.
Duties of author
- The author(s) must provide a statement that the submitted manuscript is their own original work, has never been published anywhere else, and is not in the process of being published anywhere else.
- Authors are required to prepare and provide the raw data for the purpose of an editorial review, and should be prepared to provide data access to the public if possible. Thus the author needs to store the data in a reasonable time.
- Author(s) must be willing to participate in the peer review process. For example, they must be willing to revise their manuscript based on comments or suggestions from reviewers.
- All authors whose names are listed in the manuscript must show a significant substantial contribution to the study. The contribution of each author needs to be stated in the manuscript. Technical contributors can be written in a acknowledgements at the end of the manuscript.
- The data in the manuscript must be real and original data.
- The author(s) must disclose in the manuscript about potential conflicts of interest and research funding.
- The author(s) must list all references cited in the manuscript in the reference list section.
- If the author(s) find significant errors or inaccuracies in the submitted manuscript, the author must immediately notify the journal editor and work with the editor to correct the manuscript.
Duties of Reviewer
- Peer review helps author(s) in improving their manuscripts through editorial communication and assisting editors in making editorial decisions.
- Reviewers who acknowledge that they are unqualified to review research in a manuscript or know that the review is impossible to finish within the specified time limit should notify the editor.
- All reviewed manuscripts are confidential. Manuscripts may not be presented or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.
- The review should be conducted objectively. Reviewers can express opinions with supportive arguments in order to improve the quality of manuscripts. It is not allowed to criticize the author(s) personally.
- Reviewers must ensure that the arguments presented by the author(s) are supported by references, and references cited by the author(s) must be included in the reference list.
- Reviewers also need to report to editors if there are substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript being reviewed and other known articles.
- Information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not be used for personal gain.
- Reviewers are not allowed to review manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest resulting from competition, cooperation, or other relationships with the author or any institution associated with the manuscript.
Duties of Editor
- Editors are responsible for deciding which articles submitted to Suksma: Jurnal Psikologi Universitas Sanata Dharma are qualified to be published.
- Editors may refer to the policies of the Journal's Editorial Board, and are limited by applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may confer with other Editor or Reviewer in making this decision.
- Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content regardless of the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.
- Editors are not allowed to disclose any information regarding the manuscript other than to relevant parties i.e. the relevant author, prospective reviewer, reviewer, editor's board, and publisher.
- Editors are not allowed to take personal advantage of any material in manuscripts, both manuscripts they are currently editing or the ones in the peer review process. Unpublished material disclosed in submitted manuscripts, without the consent of the author(s).
- Editors must resign and ask other editors to review and consider submitted manuscripts if they have a conflict of interest due to competition, collaboration, or other relationships with the author(s).
Matters Regarding Plagiarism
Suksma: Jurnal Psikologi Universitas Sanata Dharma will conduct a similarity level examination using turnitin with the provision of a maximum similarity of 25%. Above that number, the article will be returned to the author or rejected by the editor.
